All That Remains...

Two characters from a book I’m working on. The girl is an elf and is searching for her own kind, and on the way she meets a strange wolf who’s race disappeared along with the non-humans.

"What is this place?" The young elf asked her companion as she studied her surroundings.

"It was a city were all once dwelt in peace." The wolf said sadly. "Elves, Dwarves, shapeshifters, men, creatures of every race imaginable, but then darkness crept back into the world, and humans begun to fear those that were different, growing jealous of their powers. The alliances broken and war begun. The ruins from those days and a longing for the past all are that remain of peace."
